Australian nun Sister Janet Mead, who created a sensation with her rock masses, gave a 2000-year old prayer a rock'n'roll beat and created one of the surprise hits of 1974. The single sold a quarter of a million copies in its first three days of release and peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
